How to repair a severed electrical cord for hot tub?

I was given a used hot tub, but the electrical cord was cut to remove it. So there is no “plug” at the end of the cord, just a cut end. I assume that the elecritc was wired directly to the hotub, and when they removed it, they just cut the electrical cord.

I would like to just see if the hot tub works (have spa-repair man come over), before I run all the electric to it. But I cant plug it in for the repair man to check it out. As a cheap temporary hookup, just so it can be checked to see if it works, can I splice a 220-plug (kind for a dryer) on the end of the cut-cord, and plug it into where my dryer is? …Just to check the motor, make sure the jets work, before i spend the $ to insall all the permanent electric. Do hot tubs and dryers use the same type of elecrical outlet (220, or whatever?)?. Can I splice a temproary plug to the severed cord, and plug into dryer outlet.

(Let me say that I know nothing about electrical home improvements. So please supply as much info in you responses as you can.)
